Plale to head Pervasive Technology Institute Data to Insight Center

Nov 19,2008. The Lilly Endowment has granted Indiana University $15 million with which the university will establish the Pervasive Technology Institute, an initiative designed to fund research in three areas of information technology through the formation of three centers.
One of the these is the Data to Insight Center, headed by our own Beth Plale. The Data to Insight Center will research methods to distill useful knowledge from the vast deluge of data that is now available in digital form. "There is considerable research going on at Indiana University into the myriad aspects of large scale data, and we intend for the Data to Insight Center to be a hub for this activity with a focus on short term and long-term high impact work." said Beth Plale, Associate Professor of computer science at Indiana University Bloomington and Director of the Center for Data and Search Informatics. "The Center for Data and Search Informatics and the School of Informatics have been invaluable partners in the creation of the Data to Insight Center, and we look forward to continued strong collaboration."
The other two centers are the Digital Science Center and Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research.
